styling: urban Workwear
Workwear. It's the trend that took over the latter half of 2018. From 3M reflective details, to utility trousers and even jackets that look more like they belong to a workman rather than a fashionista. While this could risk making me sound super boring, something I love about this workwear trend is that it's just so... practical. Waterproof jackets, reflective coats and sturdy shoes...our collective mums would be proud that we're just being safe.
For this look, I've styled my trust Buffalo platform trainers in Wheat with some utility trousers that have excessive straps and carabiners so I actually feel like I could go for a climb at any moment. Up top, I've layered the Playboy x Missguided cropped hoodie to soften the look under an oversized workwear style jacket that's complete with 3M reflective strips. I definitely feel safe and visible when I'm wearing this!
When styling these kind of looks, I just have to remember not to go too overboard with the workwear. It's all too easy to go full on worker and forget that it's only meant to be workwear *inspired* – which is why I added the hoodie to keep it a little more casual.
